Winter Wallop

7 inches, 14 inches then 20 inches of snow was forcasted two days ago, all that and more stacked up leaving trucks jack knifed, turned over and motorist stuck for over 18 hours. With road crews unable to manage the mess the National Guard in Humvee's provided help and provisions to those stranded along the West Virginia Turnpike.

Myself, I sit at home. It couldnt be but 2 inches of snow on the ground but my route through all that has been suspended for the last two days.

Close Call

I'm driving the BIG truck on interstate 77 southbound just south of Charleston West Virginia just a few miles of my exit in Marmet when I realize headlights coming towards me are not from the traffic on the other side of the concrete wall but are in the left lane on my side of the interstate (this guys driving on the wrong side) and fast too.

He passes me and I grab my cell phone and dial 911.

Whats your emergency?
I'm driving on 77 south at mile marker 92 and a car just passed me on the wrong side going northbound.

A car is going northbound in the southbound lanes?
Yes.

What kind of car is it?
(Two things go thru my mind #1 Its the car on the wrong side & #2 I hadnt even processed what kind of car until that moment.)
It was a SUV, a Toyota Fourunner

What color?
I dont know, it was dark colored.

What is your name?
Mark

Ok, we'll get someone out there right away!

By this time I'm at my exit. I swap trucks and get back on the road which will take me back the way I came.

I wonder If I'm going to see... either nothing, a really bad wreck or the most unlikely, the police with this guy pulled over.

At mile marker 98 I see the lights flashing of the state police, the guys truck still on the wrong side and him handcuffed standing outside the cruiser.

BTW it wasnt a Toyota Fourrunner but a Toyota Tacoma and it was dark blue!
